Chapter Eight

“Mahi! Is everything fine at Sidra’s side?” her mother asked as soon as she greeted her.

“Yes, Mother! She wasn’t feeling well, so she got worried…” Maheen comforted her mother. She couldn’t tell her the truth, so the only option was to make an excuse.

“Is that so? The way you suddenly told me that you were going to her place, I started having strange intrusive thoughts…” She spoke her heart out.

“My beautiful mother! You keep tiring yourself out. Obviously, we’ll come to you if we have a problem. Alright, tell me, what are you cooking? That dearest of yours didn’t even bother to ask me for anything formally. Not even water…” She tried to distract her, not knowing that Sidra was standing at the door, hearing everything. Sidra’s jaw dropped in amazement. She couldn’t believe that Mahi could lie so blatantly.

Lie! Aunt, I showed her the best hospitality… And you, Mahi, when did you start lying? Sidra kept speaking in her thoughts while Maheen kept giving her signs to stay quiet. Maheen was in trouble now.

“Sidra! Sidra, you’re so strange. When did I lie? You gave me things to eat after I asked for them. And I made everything myself. Is this hospitality?” Maheen started angrily, but eventually brought her tone back to normal.

“Ye… yes!” Sidra was deep in thought.

“What happened?” Maheen tried to probe.

“Nothing… I actually came to give you your mobile. You left it in my apartment.” Sidra said, showing her the mobile.

“Alright, now stay and have dinner with us.” She made another effort to stop Sidra from leaving. Here, in this environment, her worries would dull for some time.

“I won’t be leaving without eating food made by my aunt’s hand,” Sidra fabricated. All three of them laughed together.

“Would you like to see your class?” When Ahmar saw him eating a biscuit with his tea, he got frustrated. First, Ahmar silently recorded a video of him and then asked the question.

“My class will be seen by these students here. I’m like that…classy. Well, you know me, right? It’s another thing that you got startled by me. You should have been used to my good looks by now.” Haroon said it in a very peaceful tone. Ahmar understood his message very clearly.

People won’t look at you as a classy person. They’ll look at you as if you are the next wonder, Ahmar thought to himself before saying aloud, “Yes, you are right.” He deliberately said the last part in a loud voice.

“Haaa…” Haroon smiled faintly and looked at him squarely when he heard his reply.

“If you are satisfied with your praise, then let’s go. Let me show you your target,” Ahmar said after realizing that he was wasting his time.

“Yes, yes, let’s go,” Haroon answered as if he had been patiently waiting for Ahmar to say those words.

“Then get up so that we can leave.” Ahmar got angry when, instead of getting up, Haroon replied while still sitting.

“Okay.” Haroon got up and went after him.

“I don’t know why it’s my responsibility to work with him. He is so strange. I’ll tell Boss to assign someone else to work with him,” Ahmar muttered.

“Did you say something?” While walking ahead, Haroon stopped and suddenly turned around.

“No.” Ahmar’s facial expression changed. He quickly composed himself and continued walking side by side with Haroon.

“Tell me, who will you let me meet first?” Haroon asked while walking.

“First, the classroom on the left. Maybe you will find your target here because he is a lazy person and will only waste other people’s time,” Ahmar was telling him when they turned left and he stopped abruptly. Haroon also stopped behind him.

“This class. Let’s go inside.” Haroon pointed toward the door.

“No, you will come here with a professor who will introduce you to the whole class. First, find the person we are looking for.” Ahmar stopped him with a hand gesture, then carefully opened the door and peeked inside.

“Ahmar, I don’t need anyone’s help. I’ll introduce myself. You just watch.” Haroon told him to wait outside, then opened the door and went inside.

When he entered, some students looked at him in surprise, while others’ eyes widened. And then there was someone whose eyes narrowed and that was the target of their mission.

“Huh, whatever.” Ahmar gritted his teeth at Haroon’s audacity.

“Hey, everyone! I’m Haroon. How are you? I’m your new batchmate. I migrated from Australia…” He was expecting an answer from them. Although everyone was paying attention to him, nobody wanted to answer. Some people were attracted to his personality, but there was one person who didn’t like him the moment he saw him.

“I see no good coming from you guys…Well, the way you guys are behaving, I don’t have any hope of goodness from you guys.” He said this after a moment and then walked out of the class.

Ahmar was shocked by his behavior. Does he want to stab his own feet? Some girls came out of the class after him. He knew that many gazes would follow him outside, especially that one person who had already gotten a bad impression of him. According to him, he should be the only one in the spotlight. Whether it was for good or bad reasons, he didn’t care.

“Listen, you didn’t let me see the girls who were harassed by this Zaman Sheikh,” Haroon reminded Ahmar when they came out of the building.

“Oh, I didn’t? Then who was the one who forbade me from entering the class? I told you to wait, but do you listen to anybody else?” Ahmar was quite furious at his actions.

“Alright, let’s go to the class again. Let me see them now.” Haroon understood that he had made a mistake, but he didn’t accept it.

“No. They both are on leave today,” Ahmar informed him.

“Why?” Haroon asked this completely useless question.

“How would I know? Should I go visit them and ask, ‘Today Haroon Sir was visiting, so why were you both on leave?’” Ahmar threw in a sarcastic comment and walked away.

“You…” Haroon could only say this.
