Description:

FROM YOU TO LOVE is Nageen Khan’s first story which she wrote in her teenage years. She had no experience of writing a novel which is why sometimes you will find a little immaturity in some characters. But when you read this novel, you’ll feel the essence of love.

FROM YOU TO LOVE tells the story of cousins who live under the same roof. Between them is love, fighting, and bickering, but they love each other equally. But where love exists, there is also jealousy and ego getting in the way.

FROM YOU TO LOVE is also a story about university friends who find solace in each other and share everything with one another, from sorrows to happiness.

Chapter Fourteen

‎After Inshal left the garden, Hamza also came back to his room. And now, he was lying on his bed, fighting with himself… fighting against egoistic Hamza. It was as if he was stuck in a battle between his heart and mind.

“Why… Why can’t I control myself? Why does Ama’s behavior towards Inshal bother me so much? Why does this foolish heart keep wanting to talk to her again and again? I know she’s my wife… not just now, but for the past three years… But why is my heart becoming so rebellious? Maybe I’ve gotten used to her… Yeah… maybe.”

‎While talking to himself, he finally gave up and sat up.

‎“Ughhh… Maybe my heart is forgetting that slap… Maybe I’m forgetting the humiliation I felt because of it..”.The egoistic Hamza immediately stood in front again.

‎“To hell with this Inshal… That piece of tissue. She has completely ruined my sleep.” Saying that, Hamza switched off the lights… But how was that foolish man supposed to switch off his thoughts? So, he got up again, took out a pack of cigarettes from the drawer, and walked towards the balcony.

‎One thing was certain… He was going to spend another night smoking cigarettes…

‎“Even now, we’re kings in the glory of our ego…

‎Those who break our hearts… we simply leave them behind.”

**********

‎The next day, Maria kept her word and was now determined to take Inshal out with her.

‎

‎“No, yaar. Tai Jan won’t let me go.” It was as if Inshal had completely stopped hoping for anything good now.

‎“Then who told you to ask your Tai Jan? Ask your so-called Amar Bhai instead.” Maria said while taking out a packet of Lays from Inshal’s cupboard. Inshal was sitting on the sofa worriedly while Maria was  taking out her clothes from the cupboard… Though, with the clothes, she had not only found Inshal’s Lays but was now sitting comfortably on the bed, eating them with loud crunches.

‎“Maria, at least leave my Lays .” Inshal said, making a face.

‎“Be quiet and give me your phone.” Maria ordered and  suddenly grabbed Inshal’s phone.

‎“Maria, what are you doing?” Inshal asked nervously as she sat beside her. In response, Maria gave her a look, asking her to stay quiet.

‎“I know your eyes are really pretty, so stop glaring at me now, Maria. Close the call, yaar… Just text him.” Seeing Maria calling Amar’s number, Inshal quickly stopped her.

‎“Shhhhh.” Maria gave her another look.

‎“Assalam-o-Alaikum.”The phone was picked up on the third ring. Maria quickly put the call on speaker.

‎“W-Wa Alaikum Assalam, Amar Bhai.” Maria nudged Inshal with her elbow, urging her to speak.

‎“What happened, Nisha? Is everything okay? Did you need something?” When Inshal remained quiet for a while, Amar finally had to speak.

‎“Y-Yes, Amar Bhai. Actually, Maria is here… and she wants to take me out with her, so… can I go with her?” Inshal was clearly nervous.

‎“Yes, yes, of course.” Amar had barely given permission when Maria quickly ended the call.

‎“Was it really necessary to use my shoulder to fire a gun ?”( to use someone for your benefit,a proverb)

‎“Stop talking so much. Go get ready. You’ve already wasted enough time.”

‎Suppressing the urge to give Maria a proper reply, Inshal stomped off to get ready.

‎**********

‎“Now tell me, what’s wrong?” Maria said as she took a seat at the restaurant. After a long drive and some casual conversation, Maria had brought Inshal to a restaurant, but seeing Inshal’s lost and troubled look, she had made up her mind to ask her what was going on…

‎‎“Bhai, two fresh juices, please.” Maria ordered from the waiter as well.

‎“What do you mean, what’s wrong?” Inshal asked, raising an eyebrow.

‎“Look, Inshal, we’ve been very good friends since childhood, and I don’t think there’s any kind of formality between us… So tell me what’s really going on.” Maria suddenly asked seriously. And Inshal was already looking for someone compassionate these days… so immediately told Maria about everything she had been going through since Ayesha Begum’s death.

‎“Look, Inshal, if Saima Aunty has been treating you like this, then you’ve given her the courage to do so. A person only keeps hurting someone when the other person lets them.”

‎“No, Maria. I’m just trying to keep the promise I made to Mom… I told you how much advice she gave me before she left… Otherwise, it’s not easy for me to bear all of this either,” Inshal explained her helplessness while crying.

‎“Alright, fine. I agree that you should listen to Aunty… But Inshal…. Look, if you have to live in this world… and you will until the day death comes for you, then why not stand up for your rights? Fight … Why are you living like this, suffering silently?”

‎“And you’re not even used to living like this, my love.. Just look at yourself.” By then, the waiter had brought their order as well. Maria immediately picked up her juice, while Inshal didn’t even reach for hers.

‎“So what should I do, Maria?” Inshal had also grown tired of everything herself. She missed her university… her studies, and all her friends so much. She wasn’t someone who could tolerate being treated like a helpless victim so easily…

‎‎“Now that you’ve already changed yourself so much, slowly become the old Inshal again. Ayesha Aunty told you not to argue with Saima Aunty, but she never told you to become her servant.”

‎“Hmmm… You’re right. Come on, let’s go home… I still have to deal with my so-called husband.” Inshal stood up, but said the last sentence very quietly.

‎“Yeah, let’s go. Dado must be waiting for me anyway.”

‎‎And with that, Maria left with her as well.

**********

‎“What is it, Zaid? Why have you created so much noise? This a house not a zoo? At least let it remain a house,” Saima Begum said irritably as soon as she entered the room. But the moment she saw what was happening inside, it was as if she caught fire… because the scene was that Inshal and Zaid were laughing while looking at their phones and showing each other something every now and then.

‎“Inshal, go and make some tea for me.” Saima Begum immediately sent Inshal away, and Inshal quietly left.

‎“Zaid, what will you take to stay away from that witch?”

‎“The same thing that you would take to leave that innocent girl alone,” Zaid replied immediately.

‎“Have some shame, Zaid. I’m your mother.”

‎“Ama, and she’s my sister.” Zaid couldn’t stand Saima Begum’s behavior towards Inshal.

‎“Yes, that same sister because of whom you’re still arguing with your mother,” Saima Begum said sarcastically.

‎“Fine, I won’t argue… But at least let Nisha Api continue her studies,” Zaid said patiently this time.

‎‎“Yes, I made a mistake by coming into your room. I understand everything , who’s filling your ears against me.” With that, Saima Begum walked away, while Zaid shook his head bitterly.

‎‎Saima Begum’s hatred was slowly coming out more and more…
