Description:

FROM YOU TO LOVE is Nageen Khan’s first story which she wrote in her teenage years. She had no experience of writing a novel which is why sometimes you will find a little immaturity in some characters. But when you read this novel, you’ll feel the essence of love.

FROM YOU TO LOVE tells the story of cousins who live under the same roof. Between them is love, fighting, and bickering, but they love each other equally. But where love exists, there is also jealousy and ego getting in the way.

FROM YOU TO LOVE is also a story about university friends who find solace in each other and share everything with one another, from sorrows to happiness.

Chapter Nine

Both Hamza and Inshal did not go to university today. Hamza had left the house as soon as the sun came up, while Inshal, after telling her pain and problems to her Allah and finally feeling at peace, came to Ayesha Begum’s room because of the things she had said the night before. While thinking about all those things, she didn’t even realize when she slowly fell asleep and, along with sleep, fell into the grip of fever too.

‎“Mama, leave it. Why are you ironing so many of my clothes?” By evening, Inshal’s fever had gone down a little, but Ayesha Begum was still busy doing little things for her. In the end, Inshal couldn’t help saying something.

‎“Because I want to do everything for my daughter myself before I leave,” Ayesha Begum said, looking at her daughter lovingly.

‎“Okay, leave all this. I’ll do it myself. Mama, come sit with me for a while.” Inshal gestured Ayesha Begum to sit beside her on the bed.

‎“Yes, you did it and I saw it. Now come outside, beta. It’s not good to stay here. Your Bani Dadi is leaving today, so spend some time with her. Come on.” Saying this, Ayesha Begum took Inshal outside.

The scene outside was something like this: Saima Begum was busy taking care of Hamza, while Hamza didn’t seem to be in the mood at all. He looked like he was just waiting for a chance to escape from there. Now he isn’t angry anymore because as he gets angry easily, he gets very angry, but his anger also goes away quickly. Right now, he just looked bored, while Bani Dadi was busy watching Star Plus dramas on TV.

‎Inshal quietly came and sat down on the sofa.

‎“Go and make some tea for me,” Hamza said in a commanding tone after thinking for a moment. As expected, Inshal got annoyed.

‎“I’m not your servant.”

‎”Speak with respect. I’m older than you,” Hamza said proudly, but Inshal’s next sentence took all that pride away.

‎‎“By only two months… Huh! ‘I’m older than you.’” Inshal copied him at the end.

‎The two of them were behaving normally now.

‎”What happened beta, Hamza has only asked you to make tea.Go on, make it,” Ayesha Begum said, giving Inshal a look.

‎“Mama, I don’t know how to make anything except noodles,” Inshal said shamelessly, making it clear that she couldn’t do much in the kitchen.

Now,stop your drama girl. You don’t do any work, and just look at your tongue. It could even beat a snake,” Saima Begum said. Everyone knew how she was, but still Saima begum didn’t stop. Today, she was especially sharp-tongued.

‎“Inshal.” Ayesha Begum gave her a very stern look.

‎‎“But Mama, how am I supposed to make teeeeea?” Inshal said in a helpless voice, stretching the word “tea.”

‎“Go on, girl,” Tai Jan still didn’t stop.

‎“You can do it.We trust you,” Ayesha Begum said.

‎“Which will break like a glass very soon,” Hamza’s tongue felt itchy. But Inshal still stubbornly stayed where she was.

‎“Inshal, are you going or not?” This time, Ayesha Begum said each word slowly and clearly (like she chewed them). With no choice left, Inshal made a face and first went to her room for two minutes, no one knew what for, and then went into the kitchen. But even while leaving, she didn’t forget to glare at Hamza who had caused all this trouble and was now enjoying seeing her in this state.

‎During all this drama, Bani Dadi had turned her head once and looked at the four of them, but then she just shook her head and went back to her drama. She only turned the volume up a little because she knew very well that all this is normal in this house.

‎‎“I don’t know how to make tea. This chicken is probably taking revenge for yesterday’s slap,” Inshal was talking her heart out while putting the water for the tea. Just then, Saima Begum came into the kitchen.

‎“What are you muttering, girl.”

‎‎“Tai Jan, I don’t know how to make tea or anything,” Inshal said irritably.

‎“Yes, yes, you’re such a little child that you don’t even know how to make tea,” Saima Begum was totally in a different mood today.

‎“By the way, why are you chewing so many chickpeas?” Inshal turned off the stove, put her hands on her waist like a woman ready to fight, and said in a slightly sharp tone.

‎“Ayesha rightly says you are a troublemaker. First, you’ve got scissors attached to that two-yard-long tongue of yours. And on top of that, you can’t do any work. Go, go, girl. Make the tea. Don’t break our trust,” Saima Begum said and left the kitchen.

‎Only five minutes had passed since she left when the sound of something breaking, along with Inshal’s scream, echoed through the whole house. And everyone sitting in the lounge quickly ran to the kitchen.

‎‎The scene was something like this: Inshal was crying loudly with both hands over her ears, while Hamza’s tea and one of Saima Begum’s dowry cups was lying on the floor in two pieces, as if happily welcoming everyone.

‎“It’s okay, beta. These things happen.”

‎“Nisha, stop crying, beta.”

‎“It’s ok, forget the tea if it spills. Why are you crying?”

‎Everyone started trying to calm Inshal down, except Saima Begum.

‎She was upset about her dowry cup being broken, while somewhere inside Hamza, that egoistic man was again trying to wake up.So he stood there with his arms crossed, watching this new drama. After all, this girl couldn’t even make a cup of tea for him.

‎“Bani Dadi… Mama,” Inshal said between sobs. “I had made the tea with so much effort, and look, my hand got burned while I was pouring it into the cup.”

‎“Leave it, girl. You broke my dowry cup,” Saima Begum was still thinking about her cup.

‎“Oh, forget her, beta. Show me where you got burned. Ayesha, put some ice on the girl’s hand.” After Bani Dadi’s insistence, Inshal held out her fingers which were turning red because of the heat from the cup. Upon this Bani Dadi turned back to her Star Plus drama, while Saima Begum also gave Inshal a sharp look and left.

‎“There is a limit to being childish, Inshal. Now clean this up,” Ayesha Begum said and left too, because Inshal’s drama had already come to an end.

‎“You should have just said clearly that you don’t want to make tea for me. What was the need to create such a big scene?” Just as Inshal turned around, Hamza caught her by the arm and turned her toward him.

‎‎“Look, Hamza, I already told you not to touch me. And as for the tea, I created this whole mess so that you would understand this properly… I’m not your servant. You can’t order me around.” She stressed every word and then ran to her room.

‎‎And Hamza… his already hurt ego had been hit once again. So he too went to his room and started smoking.
