Chapter One
May I say something?
You are the destination of my love.
Let us walk toward that destination together.
There will be no sorrow,
no pain…
only you and me,
and endless happiness.
And I will keep saying
from the acceptance of my prayers
to the depths of my love for you.

“Assalamualaikum,” he said as he pulled out a chair at the dining table.
“Wa alaikum assalam.”
Emar was surprised to see Enshal at that hour, though he remained silent. However, Zaid could not stop himself.
At that moment, only Emar and Zaid were seated at the dining table.
Enshal’s gaze fell on Zaid, who was staring at her with exaggerated surprise. He kept looking from Enshal to his wristwatch, as if silently questioning the unusual timing of her arrival.
“Zaid, have you bought a new watch?” Enshal had already understood what he meant, but she still felt obligated to ask.
“No, I just wanted to confirm whether it’s really you, your ghost… or if I’m running late for college.” Zaid broke all records of innocence with his remark.
“It’s nothing like that. I’m an educated girl, I go to university, and I’m punctual too.” Having no proper comeback, Enshal, as always, attacked Zaid with her words instead.
“Oh, leave it, Nisha Api. You and punctuality go together like the moon and the sun.”
“And in this case, Nisha is the sun. She’s always jealous of me.”
It was Hamza’s voice. He had just entered the dining hall and had only heard Zaid’s last remark. Pulling out a chair at the dining table, he shot Enshal an intense look.
“Oh please, even my shoes are not jealous of you. And why are you looking at me like that? Also, where’s my breakfast….”
Enshal’s words remained unfinished because Hamza suddenly snatched her breakfast away.
“Emar Bhai, today I’m going to the university as well. Tell him to hurry up, I’m waiting in the car.”
Throwing an angry glare at Hamza, Enshal stormed outside in protest.
“There’s a limit to greediness, Hamza. Why do you tease her so much?” Emar scolded him as always.
But Hamza was truly one of a kind, he simply ignored his words.

I used to believe
We were burnin’ on the edge of somethin’ beautiful
Somethin’ beautiful
Selling a dream
Smoke and mirrors keeps us waitin’ on a miracle
On a miracle
Say, go through the darkest of days
Heaven’s a heartbreak away
Never let u go, never let me down
Oh, it’s been a hell of a ride
Driving the edge of a knife
Never let u go, never let me down
Justin Bieber
Justin Bieber’s melodious voice reverberated through the car. But his entire focus remained on driving and on the upset Enshal, who kept staring indifferently out the window. Hamza could tell she was extremely angry.
After all, today she hadn’t even scolded him for listening to English songs.
“Has anyone ever told you that when you’re angry, you…” Hamza intentionally left the sentence unfinished.
Today, Enshal had sworn to herself that she wouldn’t speak to him, but how could she miss the chance to hear a compliment about herself?
“Yeah, I know. I look even prettier when I’m angry,” Enshal said boastfully, lifting her chin proudly.
“Oh wow… Some people are truly delusional. I was actually going to say that you look like a red tomato when you’re angry.”
Hamza glanced at her through the rearview mirror and shook his head dramatically, as if mourning her lack of wisdom.
“There’s no need to flirt with me,” Enshal snapped angrily.
“Hahaha… as if even my shoes would flirt with you.”
Hamza threw her own words back at her in the exact same style. His words hit her instantly.
At that, Enshal glared at him as if she would devour him alive, because she knew very well that Hamza’s tongue had absolutely no brakes.
For the rest of the journey, Hamza enjoyed himself, humming along to the songs playing in the car, while Enshal silently cursed the moment she had decided to come with him.
***************
Ali Randhawa belonged to a family that, by the grace of Allah, had never faced any shortage of wealth, and he was deeply grateful for it. Allah had also blessed him with wonderful children, two sons…..Ahmad Randhawa and Ihsan Randhawa.
Ahmad Randhawa was married to his cousin, Saima, who was his aunt’s daughter, while Ihsan Randhawa had married his university fellow, Ayesha, in a love marriage.
Ahmad and Saima Randhawa had three sons… Emar, Hamza, and Zaid.
On the other hand, Ihsan and Ayesha Randhawa had only one daughter, Enshal, whom everyone lovingly called Nisha.
The entire family was overjoyed at Enshal’s birth, but fate had different plans. Enshal and Hamza were only one year old, and Zaid was merely a month old, when Ahmad and Ihsan Randhawa lost their lives in a tragic car accident.
Fatima Randhawa could not bear the loss of her two sons, and soon after, she also passed away. For the people of Randhawa Mansion, it was a devastating tragedy.
But they say time is the greatest healer.
The sorrow and memories never truly leave you, yet with time, one learns how to live with them.

“How dare that chicken call me a tomato when he knows I hate names like that?”
For the past half hour, Enshal had been ranting nonstop to her only friend, Maria, while sitting in the canteen and eating samosas.
“You shouldn’t have come with Hamza in the first place. Anyway, tell me, are you watching the drama Ana these days?” Maria, already tired of hearing “Hamza this” and “Hamza that,” decided it was better to change the topic.
“How many times have I told you? I don’t watch dramas because my surroundings already feel like a walking drama.”
“Yeah… and one of those dramas is coming this way right now,” Maria whispered into Enshal’s ear after spotting Hamza entering the canteen and walking toward them.
“Don’t tell me, you called Hadid.” Enshal said the name of Maria’s brother and Hamza’s friend.
“Well, of course. Instead of listening to your endless ‘Hamza this and Hamza that,’ it’s better if Hadid and I just go home together.”
“Yeah, yeah. You and Hadid can go home together, while this hungry man will keep annoying me even more,” Enshal muttered irritably.
Hamza pulled out the chair beside Enshal and sat down casually.
Meanwhile, Maria quickly said goodbye to Nisha and left with Hadid before another argument could begin.
To be continued…
