From You To Love By Nageen Khan

FROM YOU TO LOVE is Nageen Khan’s first story which she wrote in her teenage years. She had no experience of writing a novel which is why sometimes you will find a little immaturity in some characters. But when you read this novel, you’ll feel the essence of love.

FROM YOU TO LOVE tells the story of cousins who live under the same roof. Between them is love, fighting, and bickering, but they love each other equally. But where love exists, there is also jealousy and ego getting in the way.

FROM YOU TO LOVE is also a story about university friends who find solace in each other and share everything with one another, from sorrows to happiness.

“Mama, when are you coming back? My heart feels so restless without you,” Inshal asked worriedly after exchanging greetings.

‎“Tomorrow Nisha, InshaAllah I’ll be with you ,my love .” Ayesha Begum said in a tired voice.

‎“Mama, why do you sound so tired? You should get some rest,” Inshal noticed the tiredness in her mother’s voice.

‎“It’s okay, beta. Now I’ll rest only once.”

‎“Mama, then please take very good care of yourself. I miss you so much,” Inshal said sadly.

‎“Beta, you take very good care of yourself too. And always remember, whatever situation Allah keeps you in is better for you. So always be thankful to Allah. And beta, don’t answer Saima Bhabhi back. It hurts me. I don’t know if life gives me the chance to explain all these things to you again….”

‎“Allah forbid, Mama! What are you saying?” Something inside Inshal broke at her mother’s words, so she quickly cut her off.

‎“No, my child. This is the truth, and truth should be faced with courage. Always remember your promise. Keep the respect of your mother’s upbringing. Take very good care of yourself, my love. Allah Hafiz.” ‎Ayesha Begum’s smiling voice reached Inshal’s ears, and at the same time, the call ended with a few broken sounds from the other side.

‎Suddenly, Inshal felt as if her life had become completely empty. But she pushed the thought away and immediately turned to Allah to find some peace in her heart. When her heart finally found a little peace, sleep took her into its sweet embrace.

‎Sleep is such a strange thing, isn’t it? It takes all our sadness… pain… and worries into itself and, even if only for a little while, cuts us off from the world. That’s why sleep is called half death…

‎**********

‎“Come in.” Saima Begum had just started lying down when there was a knock at the door.

‎“Amma, you weren’t asleep, were you?” Zaid asked as he came inside.

‎‎“Oh no, my child. Come in.” No matter how Saima Begum behaved with Inshal, she was still a mother too. And after all, when does a mother ever speak harshly to her own children?

‎“What were you doing?” Zaid started with a pointless question.

‎‎“Nothing… I was just sitting here. You tell me, what brings you here today?” There was a slight taunt in her voice.

‎‎“Hahaha, no, it’s not like that. Maybe it’s just that you don’t get much time after making sarcastic comments about Nasha Api,” Zaid said casually, but Saima Begum immediately got angry.

‎“Did you have something important to say that bothered you to come here?” Saima Begum turned her face away from Zaid, as if making it clear that she was upset with him.

‎“No, nothing like that… I just thought, why not ask you the reason for your harsh tone?”Zaid lovingly gave his mother a reason. In reality, Hamza had sent him to find out why Saima Begum was behaving this way with Inshal.

‎“Go, go. First tell your favorite girl to control her tongue, and then come here to question your mother. You don’t even know what happened, yet you come here asking questions,”.At that moment,Saima begum hated Zaid speaking against her.

‎“Ama, please, what’s wrong with you? You’re talking to me in the same tone you’re using with Nisha Api these days…”

‎“Enough, Zaid. If you have nothing else to say, then go now,” Saima Begum cut him off. Her tone clearly meant, Just get out now.

‎“I’m going, and I’m not staying in this house tonight,” Zaid also said bitterly this time, shut the door loudly and left.

‎And then exactly what Nisha had been afraid of happened… Ayesha Begum closed her eyes after giving her some advice, never to wake up again.

‎How right she had been when she said, “Now I’ll rest only once.”

‎It was as if there was complete chaos in Randhawa Mansion. There was a deathly silence all around, a strange silence that had taken everything into its grip. The plane Ayesha Begum was supposed to return on had crashed, sending all its passengers into the peaceful sleep of death.

‎But…

‎There was another reason for this silence too.

‎Last night, when Zaid left after fighting with Saima Begum, he met with a terrible accident on the way. He survived, but he lost both his legs… perhaps forever.

‎Everyone was being eaten up by their own grief. No one had the strength to share anyone else’s pain. It was as if there was nothing left inside them except numbness… no patience… no steadfastness.. and not even humanity.

‎Today was Ayesha Begum’s third-day prayer. In all this, only Maria had taken care of Inshal in every way.

‎“Nisha, enough, my love. Your health is already not good.” Maria’s eyes were also filled with tears because of Inshal’s pain. But as for her own family, they were only worried about Zaid’s pain. It was as if any Ayesha had never even been a part of their lives. Their coldness was hurting Inshal too.

‎That morning, she had accidentally dropped a plate while having breakfast, and it broke. Imar had already gone to the office, and Zaid couldn’t even leave his room. So there were only Hamza, Inshal, and Saima Begum there. It wasn’t even such a big thing, but Tai Jan scolded her badly. In answer, Inshal also threw the cup of tea she was holding onto the floor in anger and went to her room.

‎“Maybe it would be better if I died too… It’s better Maria, Mama is gone, and Tai Jan isn’t the same Tai Jan anymore.” Inshal was trying to get the heaviness in her heart out. Maria didn’t stop her, so she could let everything out.

‎“I was very little when Allah took my Baba away from me. I wasn’t much wiser then. But when I grew up… and became a little wiser, I understood the importance of a father and his place in our lives. At that time, I had Mama and Dada with me. Then Allah took Dada away from me too, and Mama told me to be patient because my mother was still alive.

‎“But now… now what am I supposed to do, Maria? Who do I have in this world?”

‎They say that sharing happiness with friends makes it bigger, while sharing sadness makes the heart feel lighter… but Inshal’s grief was too big.

‎“You sit here. I’ll get some water for you,” Maria said and left.

‎

‎“Huh… another new drama. Inshal Ahsan Randhawa… you are really fond of doing dramas, don’t you?” Hamza, who had stopped on his way to his room after hearing Inshal’s voice, came into Inshal’s room as soon as Maria left.

‎“Hamza, Tai Amma…”

‎“Shut up… just shut up. Ama didn’t even say that much to you, that you even threw the cup on purpose, and now why are you crying so much?” Saying this, he left with the same careless attitude with which he had come.

‎And behind Inshal was left alone with her grief.

‎At any other time, Inshal would definitely have noticed Hamza’s insulting tone , but right now, she already had too many things to cry about.
